1) Remain as canon as possible in characterization and plotlines established in the previous HP books; we understand some deviation will occur, but we’re not allowing people to re-write the books here!

2) All major plots are to be given mod approval. A post to the OCC journal is sufficient. Do not IM the mods and ask for approval as it is easier to keep track of in OOC.

3) This journal is rated NC-16. All players should be, therefore, 16 or older, but there is no question related to age on the application. Players should be advised that content will at times pertain to mature topics and therefore should be mature themselves. If not, then they need not read further.

4) The last Saturday of every month, a warning list will go out. Each character is expected to have at least one SUBSTANTIAL journal entry and/or action post per month. In addition, the character must have been active in reply to other journals. All characters who did not post for the month will be on the list. Posts to in_omniaparatus count for not only the poster but the secondary (and tertiary, if three are involved) character as well. If players are expecting to be absent, they should post OOC and inform the mods.

5) All journal entries are public by default unless an area is hexed/charmed/marked private. Each set of characters have their own network*:

Hogwarts Students (though they are monitored by Lupin)
Hogwarts Staff
Death Eaters

*Due to in game events, the journals are now open to all. However, entries can still be hexed privately to others.

6) The maximum alloted characters per player is five. Newcomers can apply for ONE character. Players already in game can apply for seconds after a month of game play, depending on activity level. Third, fourth, and fifth roles are considered on case-by-case basis. Exceptions can be made for desperately needed/wanted characters.

7) God-modding. It's a no-go, unless you and your partner have come to an agreement where slight moves can be adlibbed. Ex., "Carey watched Dana flick her cigarette, waiting to speak." // "When Tom sat, Jessie stood." But bottom line? Unless both players know one another fairly well and are already comfortable with each other? Don't do it.

8) You may not ad-lib characters already in the game without their players' permission. Also, if posting a scene with an NPC, post it in the correct board (action posts and owls in in_omniaparatus). Don't post NPC + character interaction in your own journal.

10) Ratings use American MPAA guidelines.

- PG would be for usage of 'damn' and 'hell,' for example, or a suggestion of sex, drug use, alcohol, etc (think of something like the movie Shrek or Grease)
- PG-13 is for most vulgarities and minor physical violence/sexual innuendo (the movie Mean Girls or Ocean's 11)
- R for extreme language/"fade to black" sexual activity (the movie Kill Bill vol. 1 or Not Another Teen Movie)
- NC-16 if it's hardcore sex or violence.

11) Netspeak - things like "LOL" and abbreviations of words like "plz kthanksbai" are NOT permitted. Very few people in the Wizarding world actually would know what was being said.

12) If you need to leave, we IMPLORE you to return the journal(s) so that future players can continue the character.

13) There's a part on the application that says, “Every first year knows that…” Say “Julia loves Ryan Cabrera.” It's proof you read the rules.

14) When accepted, please make sure to update your friends list (friend noxaeternus to get the button.) Update this list frequently. Make sure to place your application (minus the samples) in your userinfo with a link back to the game.

15) If you are participating in more than one HP RPG, please do not use the same journal/plotline for both RPGs.

16) Please be respectful to players at all times.

17) You do not need previous experience to apply. We will help you out!
